In 2016 ground broke on a new Harris Doyle community, Altadena Ridge. Just off of Acton Road in a newly annexed Vestavia suburb, it is just 15 minutes from Downtown Birmingham. The development of the neighborhood began with the annexation of the Altadena Valley Country Club in 2015. Harris Doyle Homes plans to build 66 homes in the 22-acre neighborhood. The remaining 70 acres will be developed into a city park. Harris Doyle Homes is the builder for Cypress Point, The Waters, and Steelmont.
Homes in the neighborhood are $400,000+ and have floor plans with 3 or 4 BA and 2 and 3 BR. Homes are constructed of brick and durable fiber cement siding with between 2,100 and 3,900 square feet. Harris Doyle has added energy efficient additions including high-quality insulation, Low-E windows, and gas heater and water heater. Altadena Ridge is a gated community. The neighborhood has sidewalks throughout.

VHHS offers AP courses and a newspaper and literary and visual arts magazine. It also has an award-winning debate team that has won multiple national awards.
