Kirkman Preserve is a sidewalk community with a neighborhood pool and a clubhouse located right on Moon Glow Lake and can be rented for resident’s events. The neighborhood also has green spaces and wooded areas for which Hoover is known.

The park’s cross country trail is frequently used for competitive cross country races for Samford University, Spain Park High School, Hoover High School, Alabama Association, and State High School competitions. The trail includes a connector trail so runners do not have to cross a road.
Kirkman Preserve has 280 access and a 13-minute drive down Caldwell Mill Rd. to The Summit for some of the best shopping and dining in Birmingham. Also at located at the Summit Shopping Center is Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Apple, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lush, West Elm, and a movie theater with 16 screens.
